TINAKU FOUNDATION
Tinaku means to germinate. Tinaku our business name comes from the star Pani Tinaku- who gave birth to the kūmara. The kumara is our main crop where we’re from and holds a very special place in our food sovereignty practice, especially in ensuring our Whānau are well nourished. Pani Tinaku is the star who give us an indication as to when to plant the kumara. We also align this sighting of Pani Tinaku star with the full moon period and various other environmental signs, like the singing of the manuiti (the riroriro).
